Tips for Best-Tasting Coffee
- All coffees are made from either arabica beans robusta beans, or some combination of both. Arabica beans are slightly more expensive but tend to produce better-tasting coffee.
- Ground coffee will become stale much faster than whole beans. If buying preground coffee, choose a package with the latest expiration date or a smaller quantity.
- Set your coffee grinder on a fine/ medium grind if grinding whole beans. This will yield the best-tasting grounds. Try to use freshly ground coffee within about a week of grinding.
- A water filter, filtered water, or bottled water will yield better-tasting coffee than tap water.
- Use approximately 1 tablespoon of grounds for each cup of coffee being made. To avoid overflow, use about 1/3 less ground when brewing decaf or flavored coffees.
- Make sure your coffee maker is clean. See the “Care and Cleaning” section.
Care and Cleaning
WARNING Shock Hazard. Do not immerse the cord, plug, or coffee maker in any liquid. All coffee makers should be cleaned at least once a month (once a week for areas with hard water).
- Unplug the coffee maker (this resets the brew counter for cleaning mode notification). Wipe the coffee maker with a damp cloth or sponge. Dry. Remove the water filter and water filter base (see “How to Replace the Water Filter”). Pour a minimum of 1 pint (2 cups/473 ml) white vinegar into the water reservoir.
- Press the I/ ON/OFF button once. After 30 seconds, turn OFF. Wait 30 minutes to allow the vinegar to clean. Then turn ON again. When the brew cycle is finished, wait for the unit to cool.
- Empty the carafe and rinse. Run 2–3 more brew cycles with CLEAN WATER only. Allow to cool between cycles.
How to Replace the Water Filter
For better-tasting coffee, use a water filter. Filter replacement is recommended every 60 cycles.
Carafe Safety Precautions
- Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe that has a loose or weakened handle.
- This carafe is designed to be used only on the keep-hot plate of your coffee maker. Do not use on a gas or electric range top, or in a microwave or conventional oven.
- To avoid breakage, handle the carafe with care. Avoid impact. Glass will break as a result of impact. Use care when filling with water to avoid hitting the faucet.
- Do not place the hot carafe on a cool or wet surface. Allow to cool before washing or adding liquids.
- Do not set the empty carafe on a hot heating surface.
- Do not clean with steel wool pads, abrasive cleanser, or any other materials that may scratch.
- Do not place your hands inside the carafe. When handling, be careful if wearing any hand jewelry, especially diamond rings. Jewelry can scratch the glass, which increases the possibility of breakage.
- Do not bump, scratch, or boil dry.
- Discard the carafe if it is cracked, scratched, or heated while empty for an extended period.
- To avoid accidents, do not pour in the direction of people.
- If stirring in the carafe, use only wooden, plastic, or rubber utensils. Do not use metal utensils.
- Follow the above safety precautions carefully to avoid serious burn injuries which may result if breakage occurs while the carafe holds heated liquids.

FAQs About Hamilton Beach Programmable Coffee Maker
Do coffee makers shut off on their own?
To protect the environment, the majority of coffee makers—indeed, most heating appliances—have automatic shutoff mechanisms and thermal overload protection. Your coffee maker probably contains thermal overload protection to save it from damaging itself if it was manufactured within the last 30 years.
Can you use a Hamilton Beach coffee maker to create espresso?
Make your espresso with cold, filtered water. Beyond espresso, indulge your loved ones (and yourself!) with hot beverages deserving of a café at home. The foaming nozzle on the right side of the Hamilton Beach Espresso & Cappuccino Maker is one of its best features.
In what location does one fill a Hamilton Beach coffee maker with water?
Water addition: Pour the necessary amount of cold tap water into the carafe. Fill the reservoir with the carafe’s water.
How should a 40-cup Hamilton Beach coffee maker be used?
Fill the 40-cup capacity with water. Put the cover back. Insert and allow to percolate for one cycle. To get rid of mineral buildup and deposits, clean the urn after every 15 to 20 cycles, or more frequently in places with hard water.
How do I switch off my coffee machine made by Hamilton Beach?
To switch off the coffee maker, press the start button.
Is coffee made better in a coffee maker?
While it is low on the list, it does. Greater influences come from the location of the bean farm, the beans’ quality, how fresh and properly roasted they are, how freshly ground they are, the water to coffee ratio, the brewing temperature, the coffee filters, and the water quality.
How is the stop time of a coffee maker determined?
When the coil in a coffee maker gets too hot, sensors identify it and halt the current. They then reactivate the current after it has cooled. They maintain a constant temperature in the coil by turning it on and off in this manner. When a fuse detects a temperature that is too high, they simply shut the power.
How long does a coffee maker last?
Firstly, looking for a label with a build date or serial number is a useful way to determine how long a computer has been around. For a high-end machine, five to seven years is approximately right, and for a lower-end machine, five years.
Is a coffee maker with automation better?
Fully automatic equipment is frequently utilised in business environments where uniformity and speed are crucial. In the end, each kind of machine can make excellent espresso; therefore, the choice really depends on your preferences, skill level, and intended purpose.
When is it time to replace coffee makers?
Over the course of the last ten years, if you’ve used your coffee maker every day, you may not have noticed certain steady and subtle changes. Slow brewing, taste changes, and increased maintenance are indicators that your coffee maker needs to be replaced, according to experts.
