Important Safety Information

Before using this Navigation System, be sure to read and fully understand the following safety information:

  • Read the entire manual fully and carefully before operating this Navigation System.
  • This Navigation System may in certain circumstances display erroneous information regarding the position of your vehicle, the distance of the objects shown on the screen, and compass directions. In addition, the system has certain limitations, including the inability to identify one-way streets, temporary traffic restrictions, and potentially unsafe driving areas. Please exercise your judgment in the light of actual driving conditions.
  • The navigation features of this unit are intended solely as an aid to you in the operation of your vehicle. It is not a substitute for your attentiveness, judgment, and care when driving.
  • Do not operate this Navigation System, if doing so in any way will divert your attention from the safe operation of your vehicle. Always observe safe driving rules and follow all existing traffic regulations. If you experience difficulty in operating the system of reading the display, park your vehicle in a safe location and apply the handbrake before making the necessary adjustments.
  • Never use this Navigation System to route to hospitals, police stations, or similar facilities in an emergency. Please call the appropriate emergency number.

WARNINGS

  • NEVER SERVICE THIS NAVIGATION SYSTEM YOURSELF. Servicing of the navigation system by persons without training and experience in electronic equipment and automotive accessories may be dangerous and could expose you to the risk of electric shock or other hazards, and can cause damage to the navigation system that is not covered by warranty. Be sure to consult your dealer or the nearest PIONEER Service Station for internal inspection, adjustments, or repairs.
  • If liquids or foreign matters should get inside this Navigation System, turn off the power immediately and consult your dealer or the nearest authorized PIONEER Service Station. Do not use the navigation system in this condition because doing so may result in a fire, electric shock, or other failure.

Charging

  • Use only the AC adapter (S3-9401K) supplied with your device. Use of another type of AC adapter will result in malfunction and/or danger.
  • This product is intended to be supplied by a LISTED Power Unit marked with “LPS”, “Limited Power Source” and output rated + 5 V dc / 1.5 A”.
  • Use a specified battery in the equipment.

AC Adapter

  • Do not use the adapter in a high-moisture environment. Never touch the adapter when your hands or feet are wet.
  • Allow adequate ventilation around the adapter when using it to operate the device or charge the battery. Do not cover the AC adapter with paper or other objects that will reduce cooling. Do not use the AC adapter while it is inside a carrying case.
  • Connect the adapter to a proper power source. The voltage requirements are found on the product case and packaging.
  • Do not use the adapter if the cord becomes damaged.
  • Do not attempt to service the unit. There are no serviceable parts inside. Replace the unit if it is damaged or exposed to excess moisture.

Battery

  • Do not attempt to remove or replace the internal Lithium Ion Battery yourself.
  • Use a charger that is specified and approved by the manufacturer.
  • CAUTION: This unit contains a non-replaceable internal Lithium Ion battery. The battery can burst or explode, releasing hazardous chemicals. To reduce the risk of fire or burns, do not disassemble, crush, puncture, or dispose of in fire or water.
  • Important instructions (for service personnel only)
    • Caution: Risk of explosion if an incorrect type replaces the battery. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.
    • Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.
    • The battery must be recycled or disposed of properly.
    • Use the battery only in the specified equipment.

Additional Information

If you want to dispose of this product, do not mix it with general household waste. There is a separate collection system for used electronic products by legislation that requires proper treatment, recovery, and recycling.

Private households in the 25 member states of the EU, including Switzerland and Norway, may return their used electronic products free of charge to designated collection facilities or a retailer (if you purchase a similar new one).

For countries not mentioned above, please contact your local authorities for the correct method of disposal. By doing so you will ensure that your disposed product undergoes the necessary treatment, recovery, and recycling and thus prevent potential negative effects on the environment and human health.

Bluetooth

This unit is used to connect a Bluetooth-enabled cellular phone to AVIC-S1. Bluetooth is a short-range wireless radio connectivity technology that is developed as a cable replacement for cellular phones, handheld PCs, and other devices.

Bluetooth operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency range and transmits voice and data at speeds up to 1 megabit per second.

Bluetooth was launched by a special interest group (SIG) that comprises Ericsson Inc., Intel Corp., Nokia Corp., Toshiba, and IBM in 1998, and it is currently being developed by nearly 2,000 companies worldwide.

The Bluetooth word mark and logos are owned by the Bluetooth SIG, Inc. and any use of such marks by Pioneer Corporation is under license. Other trademarks and trade names are those of their respective owners.

Operating environment

This unit should be used within the temperature ranges shown below.

  • Operating temperature range: -10 to +60 °C (14 to 140 °F)
  • EN300328 ETC test temperature: -20 and +55 °C (-4 and 131 °F)
  • The line-of-sight distance between this unit and your cellular phone must be 10 meters or less in sending and receiving voice and data via Bluetooth technology.
  • However, the transmission distance may become shorter than the estimated distance, depending on the environment in use.
  • Some Bluetooth-enabled cellular phones can be incompatible with this unit due to their Bluetooth version.
  • The performance test of this unit with all Bluetooth-enabled cellular phones is not conducted. Also, it is not guaranteed that this unit can be connected to all Bluetooth-enabled cellular phones.
  • About the Bluetooth profile and its overview It is required that the Bluetooth-enabled cellular phone to be connected to this unit is implemented with the same profile. HFP (Hands-Free Profile): the profile used for hands-free calling OPP (Object Push Profile): the profile used for transferring data such as address books.

EXPORT LAW ASSURANCES

You agree and certify that neither the Software nor any other technical data received from Pioneer, nor the direct product thereof, will be exported outside the country or district (the “Country”) governed by the government having jurisdiction over you (the “Goverment”) except as authorized and as permitted by the laws and regulations of the Goverment.

TERMINATION

This Agreement is effective until terminated. You may terminate it at any time by destroying the Software. The Agreement also will terminate if you do not comply with any terms or conditions of this Agreement. Upon such termination, you agree to destroy the Software.

MISCELLANEOUS
This is the entire Agreement between Pioneer and you regarding its subject matter. No change in this Agreement shall be effective unless agreed to in writing by Pioneer.

If any provision of this Agreement is declared invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions of this Agreement shall remain in full force and effect.
