USAGE TIPS
USING THE FLOATING HINGE POSITION:
The floating hinge position is used to prepare Panini and other grilled sandwiches. It can also be used for grilling. In this position, the grill plate rests on the food.
- Prepare your Panini while the appliance is heating.
- Using a potholder, gently open the lid.
- Before the first use, if desired, lightly oil the plates.
- Carefully place the food to be cooked on the lower plate.
IMPORTANT: Do not overload the cooking plate. - Close the lid with the lid closing directly over the food.
- Let the food cook for the desired time.
IMPORTANT: Do not leave the device unattended. - After the desired time, the food should be ready. If you prefer longer cooking, simply follow the steps starting in step 4.
- Using an oven mitt, carefully open the lid.
- Remove food using a nylon-coated spatula.
IMPORTANT: Always use heat-resistant plastic, silicone, or wooden utensils to avoid scratching the non-stick surface of the plates. NEVER use metal skewers, tongs, forks, or knives. - Unplug to turn off the device.
IMPORTANT: The panini plates remain on and hot until the unit is unplugged. - Allow the drip tray to cool completely before removing it. Wash and dry the drip tray after each use.
NOTE: Cooking spray should not be used on the nonstick surface. Chemicals that allow the spray to escape can build up on the surface of the plates and reduce their effectiveness.
HINT: You can apply light pressure on the handle to press and heat food as you wish. Do not exert strong pressure on the cover at any time.
USING THE ADJUSTABLE ANGLE:
If you are using your panini maker as a grill, you can use the angle-adjustable legs on the front of the grill to tilt the cooking surface. This allows fat and grease to drain from the food while cooking.
- To use the adjustable angle, simply press the front of the legs on either side under the front of the grill.
- This will flip the legs so that the extended part of each is outward and the cooking surface is tilted back. Make sure the legs are firmly secured in the tilted position before you start grilling. IMPORTANT: Always make sure the drip tray is in place to allow grease and other liquids to drain properly when using the slope.
NOTE: The light will turn on and off during use as the temperature is maintained; it’s normal.
USING THE OPEN COOKING SURFACE
- Lift the lid by the handle until it stops.
- Press the hinge release button located on the bottom right of the handles and lower the lid until the cooking surface is fully open.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
This appliance contains no user-serviceable parts. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
- Place the drip tray into the drip tray slot as shown. Use a plastic spatula to scrape off excess grease and food particles left on the cooking plates; runoff water will drain into the collection tray. IMPORTANT: Do not use metal scouring pads, steel wool, or abrasive cleaners to clean any part of your grill; use only nylon or non-metallic scrubbing pads.
- Remove the drip tray, empty it, and wash it in warm soapy water or the dishwasher (top rack only); dry thoroughly with a paper towel or cloth.
IMPORTANT: Do not immerse the body of the device in water or any other liquid.
CAUTION: To avoid accidental burns, allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning.
NOTE: To remove stubborn buildup, use a nylon or non-metallic scouring pad to clean the grill plates.

What is the function of a panini press?
These devices have essentially the same architecture whether they are called grills, paninis, or makers. It consists of two plates with elevated electric-heated grills on them. Some provide heat, while others just serve as a press while the meal is cooked using a different heat source.
Does panini press smoke?
Your sandwich maker may emit smoke if there are food particles or fat residue trapped between the plates.
How do you stay safe on a panini press?
When using the panini press, never leave it unattended. Verify that there is room between the wall and the rear of the panini press; certain types have exposed backs. To reduce the chance of an accident, never operate the panini press while wearing oven mitts.
